NightVision by Luke Shepard

I love reading about creative entrepreneurial projects and even more so when they are the handywork of ambitious young students from my graduate school alma mater.

Luke Shepard, a former undergraduate student at The American University of Paris, made waves last year with Le Flâneur, a time lapse video composed of over 2,000 photos that went viral almost instantaneously. Inspired by his late night walks across the city, when the streets are eerily silent and free of people, Shepard’s video highlights a side of Paris that few of us, particularly tourists, have the opportunity to experience. Without the usual heaving crowds around monuments and museums, the city’s bounty comes alive and Le Flâneur captured it perfectly.

Flush with new energy and equipped with better software and technique, Shepard is aiming higher with his new video project, NightVision. Set entirely at night, the short film will explore prominent landmarks across over twenty countries in Europe and take viewers on a stunning visual journey.

To begin work on the project, however, Shepard needs our help. Given the costs required for travel, accommodations and additional equipment, he recently launched a KickStarter campaign in order to crowdsource funding for the film. In the video below, he explains his impetus for NightVision and how we can contribute to bringing his work to fruition.

At only 22 years old, Luke Shepard is already poised for tremendous success and I, for one, am eager to see his vision come to life. Whether you donate $1 or $100, every amount counts. Follow updates on his KickStarter campaign on Twitter: @Lukejshep and click here for more information on the project and to make a donation (he needs to reach $17,000 by September 30th in order to keep donations. Please spread the word!).
For those who haven’t see Le Flâneur, enjoy:
